Why Bosa thinks 49ers QB Purdy is mature beyond his years

At 24, 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy handles criticism with maturity that is rare in the NFL. Despite being an MVP contender, the second-year signal-caller owns his mistakes and never blames teammates or coaches.

Nick Bosa, an All-Pro edge rusher, lauded Purdy on Thursday for his remarkable temperament over the previous two seasons.

Yeah, [Purdy's approach] is definitely unique in today's game,” Bosa told reporters. Some people feel threatened and desire to defend themselves. But it demonstrates Purdy's maturity and knowledge that field events have a purpose. Honesty helps. About every play, you can pinpoint the problem.

Bosa enjoys learning about Purdy's position in San Francisco's attack and how he embraces every error despite playing defense.

Kyle [Shanahan] explaining offense to the defense is intriguing. Simple motion stuff that was late and threw off the play like someone missing a block. I think honesty is a healthy way to live, and [Purdy] is mature beyond his years.”

Purdy's leadership consistency makes him a favorite among teammates and fans. Purdy instantly thought of his fans and colleagues after making his first NFL Pro Bowl last week.

"What a privilege," Purdy remarked Thursday. Many thanks to everybody who voted and the nationwide support. Very nice. Recognition for my teammates is wonderful too. What an honor to be recognized alongside our exceptional team and gentlemen. Much obliged."

Purdy has shown his prowess in the film room and pressers before the 49ers' probable Super Bowl run. Purdy fans agree with Bosa's assessment of the second-year signal-caller.
